According to Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago, Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales should start filing charges in the Sandiganbayan against some of the personalities that were involved in the P10-billion pork barrel funds scam. She said that six months have already passed and the people are starting to lose their patience because of the lack of action. She also said that this plunder issue is “too important to the national economy.”
She also filed a resolution that asked the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee to summon two other personalities, namely Mendoza and Cacal in order to investigate if there is a conspiracy among the executives of the Department of Agriculture, namely Arthur Yap and Ophelia Agawin. This is in order to know further their modus operandi in the embezzlement of public funds.
This is good because with the proposed filing of formal charges to Sandiganbayan, the corrupt senators and congressmen will soon be put behind bars. I just hope that this move done by Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago won’t be a futile one. I also hope that our government will be determined in pursuing the people involved in this scam and be strong-willed in bringing them to justice.
