We finally went on a field visit! Yey!
Last January 20, my groupmates and I, together with the other group assigned in the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) went to Brg. Banaba, San Mateo, Rizal to have a personal encounter/ firsthand experience on their risk reduction programs. It was very inspiring to see a community really working together. They had the initiative to establish a working program that is really useful during calamities especially because their area is prone to flooding. They also have livelihood programs for mothers that are not only profitable but also environment friendly. Some of these are the bags and pots from juice packs and the organic fertilizer. They also sell boats made from fiber glass which is much durable and budget friendly than the rubber boats we import.
I was actually envious of their community. It would be really nice if other barangays would follow what they started.
