Men Sta. Ana spoke on leadership. While we might recognize an individual’s prowess, success is as much a contextual matter as it is about a single person’s leadership. In his Businessworld column titled PNoy, Deng, and Lebron, Men Sta. Ana shared the elements that contributed to the passing of the Sin Tax Bill. Characterizing leadership in this way, allows everyone to play an active role in contributing to social change.
Men Sta. Ana is the coordinator for Action for Economic Reforms, which was founded in 1996 by a group of activists and scholars. AER, as the organization is known, fills the gap in economic analysis that lies between neoliberal economic policy and uncompromising populism. In playing this role, AER hopes to see a Philippine economy that is sustainable, equitable, and democratic while engaging in fair trade.
